Giant Sausage Roll

This is one for the kids when they get back in from school although adults will also enjoy it.

Feeds 3 hungry kids

Time taken : 45 minutes to defrost pastry (This can be done overnight in the fridge)
                     5 minutes to prepare
                    30 minutes to cook

Total cost    € 4.50

450g       sausage meat  (usually bought in a roll shape)
1 sheet    frozen puff pastry
Milk/Egg (for glaze - optional but looks better)

Allow pastry to defrost at room temperature - approx 30 mins
Preheat oven to 200 degrees

Roll out pastry into rectangular shape.
Remove sausage meat from packaging and place at one end of the pastry.
Roll pastry around the sausage meat.
Lightly slit top of pastry 2 or 3 times and brush with milk/egg to glaze.
Place on a greased/lined baking tray.
Cook in oven for approx. 30 minutes
It will be ready when risen and golden and there is a lovely smell coming from the oven.

Slice and serve with some ketchup or mayonnaise or alone.

TIP The ingredients for this recipe can all be frozen and taken from freezer the night before.

Introduction

Hi All,
This is my first post ever!
What I want to do in this blog is provide meal recipes & ideas & tips for you with ingredient listings/costs so that you can sit down once a week and plan your food shopping/cooking for the week ahead. I want to end forever that "Oh no, what am I going to cook tonight?" feeling when you get in from a hard day at the office. Say Goodbye to ready meals and take-aways as the default meal setting. Say Hello to the new confident cook thats hiding in all of us (possibly more hidden in some than others)!
